American Business Water Coalition Applauds Congressional Agreement on Increased Spending Levels and Urges Deal to Safeguard Water Infrastructure Funding

WASHINGTON, D.C. - January 8, 2024 (www.waternewswire.com) On Sunday, January 7, congressional leadership announced a deal to increase topline fiscal year 2024 spending levels which would be a dramatic improvement over the House-passed water appropriations bill. The American Business Water Coalition (ABWC) recognizes this as a positive step toward protecting federal funding levels for water infrastructure, but the fight is not over:

"ABWC is optimistic with the recent development of House and Senate leaders agreeing on increased topline spending levels for 2024, safeguarding water infrastructure funding," said Mae Stevens, chief executive officer of ABWC. "Congress remains up against a deadline, however, to finalize this deal and sign it into law before the January 19 deadline and ABWC will continue to advocate for this critical water funding."

It is estimated that restoring the country's water systems to meet the needs of the population will cost at least $1 trillion over the next 25 years. Without a dramatic increase in federal investment, every business and community in America is at risk. To learn more about ABWC's advocacy campaigns, click here.
