E2: Rising Costs of Climate Change Adds to Inflation

Business group: Congress can help blunt costs with action

WASHINGTON - May 11, 2022 (www.waternewswire.com) Today, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released its latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) report.

Following is a statement from Sandra Purohit, federal advocacy director for the national, nonpartisan business group E2 (Environmental Entrepreneurs):

"Climate change isn't the only factor, but it's a big and growing factor that's driving up consumer and business costs for everything from food to insurance.

President Biden and Congress can help blunt those rising costs by passing the budget resolution including the climate-investments now under consideration in the Senate that would make cost-saving clean energy, energy efficiency and electric vehicles more accessible for every American."

On May 17, E2 will host a national press conference to detail the costs of climate change to the U.S. economy, featuring representatives of the real estate, insurance and agriculture sectors. During the press event, E2 will also release details about major new campaign, including a six-figure advertising buy, events nationwide and the release of a new book by E2 executive director Bob Keefe, "Climatenomics: Washington, Wall Street and the Economic Battle To Save Our Planet."
